“An ecopreneur is someone who runs an organisation that balances the triple bottom line of economic, ecologic and social imperatives to contribute to sustainable development”

While the word ecopreneurship as a combination of ecology and entrepreneurship, suggests ecopreneurs being involved in setting up value driven businesses with an ecologic mission, the evidence over the last 20 years has shown that ecopreneurs equally address social sustainability issues with their mission. We therefore understand an ecopreneur as someone who runs an organisation that balances the triple bottom line of economic, ecologic and social imperatives to contribute to sustainable development. This is by no means a complete definition, as research has shown both entrepreneurship and sustainability to be incredibly complex topics, but it provides a starting point for us to talk about ecopreneurship.

To support that idea this website provides insights into business practices addressing each of the three sustainability dimensions. Further you can find a discussion of a new business logic that works for the planet and people.
